To turn selected pages from several PDFs into one long image, add the PDFs to the same workspace, choose pages separately for each file, arrange the selected thumbnails, and export a vertical PNG. PDFToLongImage Pro supports this workflow without uploading the documents. A single-PDF long image remains free.

## Start with a reading order, not whole documents

Suppose Lecture A has three pages and Lecture B has two. Your summary needs the overview and worked example from A, followed by the exercise from B. Merging both entire files would add two unwanted pages; converting them separately would leave more images to assemble.

Use the actual PDF page positions, starting at 1. A printed “page 1” may be the third page of a PDF with a cover and contents page. Check the thumbnails before exporting.

| Source | Pages to select | Position in the result |
| --- | --- | --- |
| lecture-a.pdf | 1,3 | First and second |
| lecture-b.pdf | 2 | Third |

- [Download Lecture B (2 example pages)](https://www.pdftolongimage.com/examples/workspace/lecture-b.pdf)

## Select pages separately, then arrange the result

The range beside each source applies only to that file. Use 1,3 for two individual pages; 1-3 includes all three pages. You can also select or deselect thumbnails visually.

1. Open the PDF tool and add lecture-a.pdf and lecture-b.pdf together, or use Add files for the second document.
2. In the source list, enter 1,3 beside Lecture A and 2 beside Lecture B.
3. Check that exactly three thumbnails are selected. Drag them into A1 → A3 → B2 order; the page arrows are also useful on a phone.
4. Rotate any sideways page. If you need only a diagram or paragraph, use Crop area on that page before exporting.
5. Keep Long image selected, choose vertical layout and PNG, and download the single image. Multi-PDF export requires Pro.

One source list, separate page ranges, and one ordered selection. Example documents are supplied above.

## Keep the long image readable

PNG is the default and keeps text edges without JPEG compression artifacts. White-margin trimming can remove empty space; it does not choose the relevant passages for you. If the result is too long, first remove unnecessary pages or crop the needed regions.

At the same width, adding pages increases image height. Choosing a much smaller width just to fit JPG can make small text unreadable. For very long output, keep one PNG instead. Progressive encoding avoids one giant browser canvas, but available device memory and the app receiving the image can still limit what you can open or share.

## Use the same selection for a PDF or a later revision

Choose New PDF to export the same ordered pages and crops as a paginated document. In the example, the result has three pages; it is not one unusually tall PDF page. Switching output keeps your selection, order and edits.

If you will revise the summary later, give the project a name and save it with Pro. It stores the source files and edits in this browser. Reopen it from My projects on the same browser and device. There is no account sync or portable project file; clearing site data removes saved projects. Keep your original files.

## When do you need Pro?

Selecting, reordering and exporting pages from one PDF is free. Combining selected pages from multiple PDFs, mixing PDF pages with images, manually cropping regions, and saving local projects are Pro features. Pro is one lifetime purchase covering both long-image and new-PDF output; the output format is not an extra charge.

## Questions and answers

### Can I select different page ranges from each PDF?

Yes. Each file has its own range field. Select 1,3 in PDF A and 2 in PDF B, then arrange the three selected thumbnails in the desired output order.

### Will I get one image or one image per PDF?

Long image mode combines the selected content into one image. Keep the one-image option selected; splitting is an optional output choice.

### Are the PDF files uploaded when I use Pro?

No. Document processing and local projects run on your device. Account and payment requests use the server, but the conversion tools do not upload document contents.

## Build your own reading sequence

Open a vertical PNG workspace, add your documents, and select the pages you need. Multi-PDF export is included in Pro.
